Some of our favorite places
[NOTE: This page and all the pages that have links below were written before Genie died.]
Genie and I have been lucky to have visited a number of wonderful spots. Accompanying us on some of our trips were Genie’s sisters and spouses. We were also lucky to have taken a few trips with Genie’s Dad, Jimmy. A trip to Moab and Monument Valley will always bring to mind Jimmy.
Listed below are links for each of the places we’ve been. For each destination, I’ve posted some photos. I’ve also tried to add a little flavor of the destination -- a sense of place -- in the small narrative section at the top of each page.
I’ve also listed a song (or two) that you can listen to as you watch the photos. I’ve tried to pick songs that fit the place. (I didn’t include a song on the Mexico and Bermuda pages because there just aren’t enough photos to warrant a song. I need to go back and take some more photos. I’ve got the songs.)
Traveling should be mandatory. We should be made to get out into the world, to see and experience what life is like in other countries. We should know and accept and embrace that there are other walks of life, thought, belief, interest. And you can’t see that if you stay home. So, travel. See life.
As Twain said
Twenty years from now you will be more
disappointed by the things that you didn’t do
than the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
